Luke was born and raised in Sonoma County, a product of Sebastopol public schools and a third-generation student of Santa Rosa Junior College. Luke serves on the Sebastopol Planning Commission, and advised the City of Santa Rosa’s recent Downtown Station Area Specific Plan.
Luke’s commitment to housing solidified when he campaigned for Proposition A, San Francisco’s historic $600 million affordable housing bond measure approved by voters in 2019. Inspired by strong momentum in San Francisco and the opportunity to create meaningful housing diversity in Sonoma County, Luke was thrilled to join Generation Housing.
Luke studied global public health and urban development at New York University. His thesis on international pandemic policy focused on lessons learned from HIV/AIDS. Outside the university, Luke supported watershed Supreme Court cases for LGBTQ rights at the American Civil Liberties Union, mobilized against racially-biased cannabis policy with the Drug Policy Alliance, and spearheaded faculty outreach to garner support for NYU’s campaign to divest from fossil fuels.
Luke has worked as a campaign organizer to elect progressives on the West, East, and Gulf Coasts. In addition to living near the ocean, Luke enjoys disco and root vegetables.
