Sebastopol becomes first city in Sonoma County to OK sale of ADUs

Sebastopol landowners with secondary homes on their properties can now sell those homes under a state law implemented at the city council’s direction this week.

The terms apply to accessory dwelling units, or “granny flats,” that historically have been only available in California as rentals. A 2024 state law, Assembly Bill 1033, gives Californians the opportunity to sell and buy them as condominiums.
